George_L | I sent off a print and a nice letter to Bob Crippen a couple of weeks ago and received just this print back this week. The signature looks as though it was done very slowly and 'jumpy' and I'm hoping someone can shed some light on the authenticity of it. Here are some photographs of the autograph:

4allmankind | I'm not an expert but I can tell you that a few of mine that I've presumed to be authentic that were signed in the last 6 years look awfully similar to yours. And one that was in-person in 2009 looks the same as well — slow and deliberate. Hope this helps. |

Thanks for the reply. The address I sent it to is his own I believe and others have had past success with it. From your descriptions and pictures online I assume it is authentic.

albatron | That's a recent signature. |
mf451 | Yes, I recently received two signed photos from Capt. Crippen and they are likewise as deliberate. The actual signature on mine is a little smoother, but the inscription has the same sort of look as your signature. |
Chuckster01 | I received these autographs in person from Commander Crippen at the dedication of the space shuttle monument in Titusville in November of last year. They are very consistent with others he has signed in person at other events. I have not seen the jittery broken signature in any of the autographs he has done in person. For the Crippen action figure he sat down to sign I assume because of the size. The STS-7 he re-signed standing up on my clipboard. (His signature faded from the STS-7 as are some of the others.)

J.L | Folks, Crip is 77 years old. His signature just might not look like it did when he was 44. Time marches on.

Chuckster01 | The photos I just posted are from 60 days ago. Time is not marching that fast... lol. |
MrSpace86 | I can't imagine if Novaspace organized an STS-1 crew signing. All those items would be considered 'atypical' yet unique and still cool. |
